~  Vintage 40's Black Silk Chiffon & Pink Satin Penior Set ~

 This is set has all of the romance and Hollywood glamour of the 40's. I can't help but think of  Veronica Lake and Betty Grable when I see this set. A gorgeous pink satin night gown is the base with a sweetheart cut neckline, front and back with A princess style midriff and gathered cap sleeves edged in white lace and a rear tie for a perfect fit. And notice the length, floor sweeping! Perfect for your most flirtatious boudoir slippers. Then top this off with a sheer silk chiffon robe that has the most luxurious flow. All trimmed with a German style eyelet lace on the collar, down the front of the bodice and around the waistline, that is laid over a pink satin waistband. It also features ruching at the shoulders and cuffs. 5 button closures, 2 at the waistline and one at the collar and one on each cuff. Don't forget the classic shoulder pads!!

This would be an incredible piece for display or even to wear when you need a extra bit of silver screen star quality in your day.

Condition

Excellent vintage condition!! The fabric is amazingly solid and crisp on both pieces! I did find some small scattered holes and one larger(approx.1/2 inch for the largest)  in the back of the robe. They look fresh, from recent carelessness not from age of textile. They are approx. inches from the back hemline. Very possible to mend without much notice as the get lost in the folds. There is one small spot on the back (very possible to remove-significantly lighten) of the gown's bodice. It measures  inches. There are 2 pinholes in the shoulders. The person whom I rescued this from had the gown PINNED to a dress form!!!! A little bit of dust along the gown hemline. To me, this set has VERY minimal flaws considering age and textiles.
